Description

RETREAT DESCRIPTION & DAILY SCHEDULE SAMPLE

Enjoy daily Vinyasa yoga practices (all-levels), adventurous coastal hikes, a guided walk on the moors with a local guide, plenty of tea and scones, and ample time for relaxing.

From coastal cliffs and sandy beaches to the wide open spaces of the moors, from Exeter’s cathedral to 3000-year-old stone circles, Devon enchants visitors with its diverse landscapes and storied past.

Some of the memorable experiences and invigorating activities you’ll get to look forward to include:

  • All-levels, “alignment flow” yoga practices (usually 2x per day) in the fully-equipped studio
  • Exploring the scenic moors and Bronze Age relics of Dartmoor National Park — which, at nearly 400 square miles, is England’s largest open space — with a local guide
  • Hiking picturesque stretches of the Coastal Path in Exmoor National Park and in Cornwall
  • Visiting Tintagel Castle, reputedly King Arthur’s birthplace, and the historic fishing village of Boscastle on a day trip to Cornwall
  • Strolling a broad, sandy beach on the North Devon Coast
  • Touring an historic manor’s extensive gardens with the Head Gardener, then savoring an authentic Afternoon Tea in the finely-appointed salon

During your free time you can read in your bathtub or comfortable sitting area, walk the network of local trails, swim in the salt-water pool, and/or schedule and enjoy massage treatments on site.

Spots are limited, so register soon for an unforgettable, relaxed travel experience.

Your Instructor: Michael Hoyer / 500-hr certified Vinyasa yoga teacher

Michael founded Ananda Expeditions to draw on her breadth of experience as a traveler, teacher, and writer, and, most importantly, to pursue her ananda by guiding others on purposeful wanderings in-line with their internal compasses.

Michael has experienced personal transformation on her wanderings and witnessed immeasurable growth in her students. She founded Ananda Expeditions to offer widely the kind of engaged travel experience that has given her sustained joy over the years. Michael relishes the opportunity to guide others on journeys that they have always craved — trips that make room for activities that engage both the mind and the body, through which travelers discover new depths of joy while creating lasting memories.

Michael has completed 500 hours of Vinyasa yoga teacher training with her two primary teachers, Jason Crandell and Stephanie Snyder. She teaches strong and mindful Vinyasa practices that blend intelligent sequencing, precise alignment cues, and accessible contemplative themes. Most importantly, she focuses on meeting the specific desires and needs of her students — whether that entails introducing the basics of the practice to those who are new to yoga, or supporting more experienced practitioners in their process of continual growth and discovery. In practicing with her, you can expect to be warmly welcomed and physically challenged, to receive thoughtful (not forceful) manual adjustments, to experience a deeply restorative savasana at the practice’s end, and to leave your mat feeling both relaxed and invigorated.

When Michael isn’t guiding and teaching Ananda Travelers on inspired adventures, she’s practicing/teaching yoga, metalsmithing, cooking, running on trails in her native Boulder, Colorado, or riding her Bianchi cross-bike in the hills of San Francisco.
